How to apply for the NoV for your Olympic and Jubilee special callsigns

I posted a while ago about the special callsign prefixes for the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee here and I’m pleased to be able to report that the process to apply for these has now been published and it’s much simpler than it was for the Royal Wedding last year.

There is a basic form to be filled in for each Notice of Variation (NoV) and it only takes a few seconds for each one.  You’ll need your licence number which can be found on your current licence documentation or by logging into the Ofcom website.

To apply for an NoV for the Olympics, click here.

To apply for an NoV for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, click here.

The process appears to be fully automatic and I had my NoVs for GQ6NHU and GO6NHU in my email within thirty seconds of submitting the requests.

  1. Hi Keith, Thanks for posting this. I was not going to bother, but this process has made it very quick and easy to get your NOV’s. I was wondering about QSL cards as all the logo’s used for thegames are copyright. Do you think there would be any way of RSGB getting together with LOCAG to allow there use on cards(maybe just one logo only)?
