For the last week or so, I’ve been running a special event station from home, exclusively using FT8 because it means I could operate my station remotely from my home office. It’s a very simple matter to just click callsigns as they respond to CQ calls, manually hit the ‘log’ button and start the cycle going again.
20m hasn’t been good at all, the beginnings of the summer doldrums have started but 15m and 17m have really been working well. Each morning, I fired up on 15m, pointed the beam at around 60° and worked streams of JAs. During the days, I switched between bands but spent most of my time on 15m and 17m.
On the last evening, I checked and finally 10m was open and I managed to work a couple of dozen or so South Americans.
In total, I made 1,708 QSOs with 1,445 unique callsigns over 71 countries.
Sometimes it’s fun just to make Qs and give people a nice callsign in their log.
